Asbestos Management and Surveys
There are stringent legal requirements under Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 for building owners, occupiers, managers and landlords to assess and identify any Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) present in the buildings by undertaking Asbestos Management Surveys (in accordance with HSG264) and where required, get the asbestos removed.
Any asbestos left secured or encapsulated in the buildings must be checked and inspected on a regular basis to ensure that its condition has not deteriorated to cause any risk of exposure. The information and records regarding the asbestos presence must also be made available to all who carry out maintenance, refurbishment or any other intrusive work in the buildings.
For demolition and construction projects there is a legal requirement to carryout Refurbishment and Demolition Asbestos Surveys and remove any identified asbestos in the proposed site work areas before any intrusive works commence.
